FAQ
What exactly is the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method, and is it really serious?
Yes, and that is exactly the point. LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is a research-based facilitation method developed by Robert Rasmussen, former head of R&D at LEGO Education. It is designed to help leadership teams think more clearly, communicate more honestly, and make decisions together with shared ownership. Participants build LEGO models in response to real business challenge questions. Those models become a shared language — visible, tangible, and open to dialogue. The word "serious" reflects the real business outcomes the method delivers. The LEGO bricks are the tools for learning through play.
Is this an official LEGO product? What is LEGO's involvement?
The LEGO Group owns the IP and produces four specialized kits developed specifically for use with the method. These are not available in regular toy stores and must be ordered directly. However, the LEGO Group does not run workshops, does not train facilitators, and does not manage the methodology. The method itself was built independently by Robert Rasmussen, who is recognized as its Main Architect.
How is LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® different from a regular team building activity?
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is not just a team building activity. It is a facilitated method to help teams transform from the inside out. Rather than having teams play games as metaphors for teamwork, the method guides participants through a structured facilitation process that surfaces real insights, resolves genuine tensions, and produces tangible outputs through shared models, agreed-upon decisions, and documented commitments. The results go home with the team. The shift in thinking often lasts long after the workshop ends.
How can I become an officially certified LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitator?
Certification is available through Rasmussen Consulting, the global organization founded by Robert Rasmussen, Main Architect and Co-Founder of the Association of Master Trainers in the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY Method. Rasmussen Consulting Thailand is the official country representative with direct lineage to Robert Rasmussen. Certification training is conducted by Robert Rasmussen himself and AMT certified Trainers of Facilitators, in multiple languages and locations worldwide.
How do I know if LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is right for my organization right now?
A good starting point is to ask: does your team have important conversations that are not happening or not happening well? Are decisions being made by a few people while others stay silent? Is there a gap between what people say in meetings and what they actually think? If any of these sound familiar, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® can help unlock these challenges. The method is particularly powerful during strategy reviews, organizational change, team reorganizations, and leadership alignment. Please contact us to discuss and design the right approach for your team.
How long is a typical LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® workshop? How many people can join?
Workshops are highly flexible by design, ranging from a few hours to multiple days depending on the complexity of the challenge and the depth of outcomes you need. The method works best in groups of 6-8 participants per table, with multiple tables possible during a workshop. This ensures that every voice is genuinely heard, but also surfaces a rich and diverse range of perspectives. Every workshop is custom-designed around your specific context and goals.
How is Rasmussen Consulting Thailand different from other LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® providers in Thailand?
Providers of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® differ significantly based on lineage, training, and depth. Rasmussen Consulting Thailand is the official representative of Rasmussen Consulting globally, and our lead facilitator was trained and certified directly by Robert Rasmussen in 2014. The quality of a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® workshop is directly connected to the quality standards of the facilitation and design behind it.
